Nader won’t let him off lightly, and I know he will train the house down the bloke isn’t scared of no one that’s why I always love watching him box. However I believe Junior Talipeau, Serge Yannick, Zac Awad, Trent Broadhurst, Jamie Pittman are the men domestically in an otherwise soft divison here in Australia. I have mentioned this before in another post but it is a very aging divison. The top ten are aged: Bika 32,Talipeau 27, Yannick 28, Sherrington 29, Taylor 39, Oganov 34, Bolling 27, Pittman 29, Hamdan 37, Pawsey 30. NO wonder Taylor, Hamdan are still around when they can still cut it in this bunch. I just see this as a domestic divison no one really stands out for a major shot as Bika is ranked 19ish in the world here which says a lot for the rest of the guys in the divison.
Nader Hamdan, seven years Pawsey’s senior, is the elder statesman of Australian boxing and the man known as Lionheart may well be fighting to keep his career alive when the two meet at Campsie’s Orion Function Centre. Hamdan 37, hasn’t won a fight since Aug 2009 with his last record – Loss Sherrington, Loss Talipeau, Draw Talipeau, Loss Kariuki, Win Piper. We all know Hamdan is the Lionheart but he is getting a little long in the tooth with his record showing this. The younger ring fit Pawsey should win this although I am sure Hamdan will make him earn every round.
Hamden still around and looking to do what exactly??? Not good, I thought Nader was shot when I saw him go life and death with Digger Wyborn; I was pleased when he got back on track with some good wins after that. But he’s a very tough hombre, I wouldn’t expect Nader to retire until he gets really shown the door via a brutal kayo/s. Its a shame but Hamdan has a real warrior mentality and I think it’ll take at least that to convince him otherwise.
Daniel Pawsey 30, coming off a win from Piper in April, with his last 4 fights all wins and last loss coming from Awad back in Oct 2009. Pawsey should foregt about a stoppage, and instead look to take Hamden the distance and win on a decision- really try and suck as much experience out of the still cagey Hamdan as he can. A learning fight like that can pay dividends later on, while a kayo of an old Hamdan doesn’t prove much. After Pawsey beats Hamdan I’d then like to see him fight Shannon Taylor.
30-year-old Pawsey will be defending his WBO Asia Pacific super middleweight title and comes into the bout on the back of four-straight victories.
